January 31st 2023

We introduced the first part of our self portrait work today.  Using a mirror students are asked to look closely at their eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hair.     Focusing on where each facial feature is located.   Using loose parts from different areas of the classroom students had fun choosing which materials they wanted to use to represent certain facial features.   I encourage friends to take time looking at all of the materials on offer.  Review what they have done, and make changes until they feel happy with the final product.   We will continue to call each student to produce a representation of themselves as the week progresses.

We read two books today.   "Let's make faces" by Hanoch Piven
The second book Layla brought in to share with the class, "Minnesota's hidden alphabet" by Joe Rossi.

What was our question of the day?
How many trapezoids were in the dish?
What does a trapezoid look like?
The class has been playing a new game.  If you are picked you have to stand up and slowly turn around to show friends what you are wearing.  Then what do you have to do?
